We brought Sadie home 14 years ago and she was snappy even as a puppy. I was so disappointed I had wanted a yorkie for a very long time.
We put up with her because she bonded completely with my husband...( probably because he was the only person who wasn't intimidated by her...)
Soon after we got a little male and he has been my baby. He is a sweet-heart.
I don't think temperment goes by the sex of the dog but by their ancestors.
I remember the breeder whom I bought Sadie from talking about not using her dad anymore because he was getting to grouchy. That should of been a clue...
