Coby does the coughing thing when he runs a lot or gets overly excited. And Reggie, my Shih Tzu has a reverse sneezing problem (more of a honk than a cough). They're not the same thing (at least in my case). Coby's coughing is definitely brought on by excitement. Reggie's reverse sneezing can just come on out of the blue.
