I don't really believe the eye shine color theory is very accurate.
Destiny has a silky coat and her eyes shine green most of the time but I have seen them shine yellow and soft orange before. I believe it is the way the lighting hits their eyes.
In my opinion you just have to really know the difference between the textures, you can't rely on eye color.
