My female Jewels gets tonsilitis also she seems to only get it around sep ,oct,
she usually gets a fever and will not eat, our vet usually gives a shot also and then sent home with antibiotics, she might not be eating if she has a fever .Her throat is very sore and it hurts to swallow, it usually takes a couple of days for them to get back to normal if she is not feeling a tinch better in a day it usually only takes a good 36 hrs after that shot for her to start to feel better, temp going down etc, if not I would call my vet again, the nutrical is very good if none available get her some honey , and Jewels would lick ice cubes, eggs was usually her first food she would accept, but all of mine love eggs. They have pedialyte frozen pops too, they work well also, sometimes I would use and eye dropper of it and slowly give it to her a drop or two at a time. Good luck and hope she is feeling better.
