I start shaving my puppy ears around 3 weeks of age and then every other week. They are used to the clipper noise early and ears usually have no problem going up later. It is very helpful if you have a grooming table. If I have a really squirmmy puppy, I hold him between my legs and shave the ears. A good clpper is also very helpful. I use an Oster Golden A 5 two speed with a 5/8 inch blade. The clipper is quiet and the blade cuts very close. also a Whal Peanut clipper works good too.
