I'm so glad you are going to have her spayed! You are absolutely right about increasing her lifespan.

Did you know that the risk of malignant mammary tumors in dogs spayed prior to their first heat is 0.05%. It is 8% for dog spayed after one heat, and 26% in dogs spayed after their second heat?

I was just talking to a friend who does Maltese rescue who just took in the second female in just a couple of months with a mammary tumor. It's so sad when this cancer is preventable by early spaying.
