This breeder not knowing, would hopefully be willing to work with you and replace your pup and pre-test your new one (you wouldn't want to bring another one in with it and then test and possibly expose your other dog to it). If it's after the 72 hours, it could have been picked up after leaving the breeder's premises (I'm not sure about the incubation period of giardia). Even then your breeder may still be willing to work with you. They need to know about the illness that may be coming from there grounds.

I would keep a receipt (for the dates in particular)from the vet and call the breeder...

GREAT...GET THIS!!! I picked up the puppy Thursday at 6:00pm and took him to my vet the next morning (Friday at 9:00 am) his feces was tested and came out positive. IT GETS BETTER!! I called Fran and told her the puppy was sick and that she should pay the vet bills that were specific to the treatment for Giardia and Coccia and she said "NO" yes folks she said no! Not only that we have no contract and she cashed my check the day I paid her. IT GETS EVEN BETTER! Our first yorkie, Cosmo also came home with Giardia and I just found out we bought him from Fran's daughter! So basically the same breeder! What a scam this lady is running! The only thing that brings me any satisfaction is that he could have gone to a home where the people did not provide vet care like some young girl etc. At least he is with us where he is receiving vet care and being pampered. I would post the breeder's name but I am sure that it would be appropriate. I truly now believe she is a "backyard breeder" and into yorkies for nothing but the money!
