How old are your children? Small children often frighten dogs, especially small dogs, because of their sudden movements, unusual noises, etc.

What is this dog's background? At four, if she has never been around kids, it isn't fair to expect her to all of a sudden feel comfortable around them.

Yorkies are not recommended with small children. Of course, we often hear stories of small children and Yorkies getting along beautifully together, but that is usually if the Yorkie came into the household as a puppy.

You absolutely need to consult a professional behaviorist to have her evaluated and to see if she can be rehabilitated. Even a small dog can do serious damage to a child's face. You can't take the chance. You also can't risk the legal liability if she should bite one of your children's playmates.
