If this was the initial vet visit (within the first 48 or 72 hours, whichever your contract states) then I would definitely let the breeder know. I'm a breeders, I feel there's no reason you should have to take a dog in poor health and to have to pay those bills. This breeder not knowing, would hopefully be willing to work with you and replace your pup and pre-test your new one (you wouldn't want to bring another one in with it and then test and possibly expose your other dog to it). If it's after the 72 hours, it could have been picked up after leaving the breeder's premises (I'm not sure about the incubation period of giardia). Even then your breeder may still be willing to work with you. They need to know about the illness that may be coming from there grounds.
I would keep a receipt (for the dates in particular)from the vet and call the breeder...
