According to the dog whisperer... when you take out the vac, you have to put you in between the dog and the vac and put him in a submissive state of mind. you do this by calming him down at the sight of the vac. you shush him and tell him to stop... just as he's about to bark, you have to shush him... keep doing this... he will eventually submit... and ignore the vac.
