Our miniature dachshund was shipped to us, and she got giardia and coccidia. The first 6 mths. of her life is all a blur to me... mass amounts of diahrrea and tons of administering medications. I forget which one she got first, but I guess all dogs carry bacteria in them, and stressful situations (like flying on an airplane) can make them flare up. Then when we were treating her for that, her immune system went down and she aquired the other one. I think it was giardia first, then coccidia while we were treating for the giardia. Like I said, it's all a blur, but my heart goes out to you. SO frustrating!

Coccidia can come on because of stress not Giardia.
