as for why some breeders will not show their dogs just look at the german shepard. a true working healthy working shepard has a straight back and a long gait. a show shepard is expected to keep its back legs slightly bent so the back has a 10 degree slope from front to back, and when it runs it runs with its legs bent causing problems with the hips and joints as it gets older. show shepard are breed to look a certian way that is not functional as a working dog. a lot of good breeders will not show because of the elitist mentality of some show dog breeders when the dogs are as good as if not better than a show dog.

it's not the same species but the easiest example to use.
