Hi and a big welcome to Yorkie Talk and also, congratulations on adopting Sydney. She is soooo young. It is usually the norm that such tiny babies as the one you have normally do not leave the breeder's until they are atleast over a pound and 10-13 weeks sometimes longer depending on the puppies weight. Did the breeder by chance tell you why she was letting the puppy go so early? 8 ounces is extreamly small.
Contact your vet and ask for some Nutrical. This is a health suppliment to get sugar levels normal so the puppy does not crash. (Hypoglycemia). This could happen to a puppy within days or sometimes even hours after arriving to it's new home.
Try to make sure your puppy is eating and drinking and staying warm and rested.
I do not know about a cat transferring worms to a dog? However, if you see any problems with Sydney before you vet opens you might want to consider a animal hospital near by.
It can be very dangerous for these tiny ones. They can be ok one minute then be crashing the next...
Keep us posted on Sydney's progress and again welcome!
