I don't wet it - but you might try that. I just use the dry sponge to put the foundation directly over the brown spots. Also, if I have a blemish, I dot my finger in the foundation and pat it right on the spot - it covers it completely. Of course, that would be impractical for freckles
Try the makeup sponge and see if it helps coverage. Try it dry and then try it wet and tell me how the wet works!
