I agree, sending the male on a short "vacation" is the only answer for me. There's just no sleeping for anyone if he's around. Also, if anyones in heat, he doesn't eat and just gets to be skin and bones..all the girls seem to go into season right after each other so it's weeks of the poor fella not eating, just not healthy!
