If your dog is registered AKC they can be dual registered with UKC. As far as I know it does not go the other way. Both dogs have to be registered AKC With AKC. Here's what it says on the website.
D. AKC Bitch Bred to a Non-AKC Dog in the United States
A litter produced by an AKC registered Dam and a non-AKC registered Sire as the result of a breeding in the United States may only be registered when the Sire becomes registered with the AKC.
