I hate to tell you this but mice can chew through plastic. They can chew through anything. You will need to get a medal trash bin to keep them out . There is really no reason for you to throw out the dog food. We live in the middle of a hay pastor and we get mice all the time (The price we pay for living on 500 acres) set some traps !!!
