Wow..Wow..Wow...I just read through this thread and had my hand on my chest the first 4 pages!!! Kimberly, bless you and the fine work you do!!! You saved Hannah's life and lil Miracle too...The nurse in me wanted to know everything about this new drug Nexcal..this is a potent potent drug..I am so glad you posted this thread Kim so that everyone has the opportunity to educate themselves about this! This drug can cause transient and irrereversible bone marrow changes in dogs. Transient meaning it can appear and correct itself after treatment, and irreversible meaning never correct itself... Bone marrow is where red blood cells are formed and most clotting factors in the blood, thus causing anemia and could cause a dog to "bleed out" if there was ever an injury, surgery, cut ect. I would absolutely say no to this one...There are many safer antbx out there to use. I wonder why in these two cases here, the vets opted to use a combination drug treatment?? If it were a life threatening situation and nothing else had worked, it would be understandable...but..dang..What a blessing to know they are all doing better! Thank-you Kim and Mary for all of your education you ad to this board...we are blessed to have you! Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New Year from Texas!!! |
