Did most of you on here get the Lepto vaccine for your dog ?
Thanks for your help |
Lepto is the one vaccine most likely to cause a bad reaction. My Bichons don't get lepto vaccinations, but there hasn't been a case in my area for many years. If a case should show up, my vet would let me know to get them in immediately. My son got lepto from a dog when he lived in Puerto Rico 19 years ago. He was stationed there in the Coast Guard. He adopted a stray dog and it had lepto and passed it to him. He was in the hospital for three weeks and came very close to leaving this world. The doctors said it was 98% fatal in humans. His case was written up in the medical journals. So I am very conscious of lepto and how dangerous it can be. I mention it to my vet every time my dogs go in for their annual shots.
