When I used anything, I would apply a very good moisturizer or sometimes an antibiotic ointment in the winter to Muffins foot pads, because we went for a lot of walks and I didn't want her feet to get sore. Now, she was old, so I did watch her pads more carefully then, but I always babied her and I'll admit I did always put stuff like that on her pads. She loved her feet massaged, so this was a way to put something on them and massage her feet at the same time.
