Gracie has a grade 2 in her left leg and a grade 3 in the right. The surgeon recommended that both be done. Gracie only favors the grade 3 leg. I have a close friend who is also a vet, and discussed this with her. She said the grade 2 should be repaired, as it does cause pain whenever it luxates, whether Gracie shows it or not. Every vet I have discussed this with has said that if you do nothing for a grade 2 or higher, the dog may very likely have debilitating arthritis later in life. It was suggested that I start Gracie on Glucosamine. So, it looks like Gracie will have the first of 2 surgeries sometime next month.
