I normally brush Lacy's teeth once a week when I give her a bath. I use a spinning toothbrush that I found at Petco with a mint-flavored toothpaste that I bought at Petsmart. I brush her teeth with that first. Then I put a finger toothbrush on my finger and brush her teeth with that.
She's only had her teeth kindof cleaned once..when she was 7 or 8 months. She had to have 4 baby teeth pulled and her teeth got cleaned then too. I switched from kibble to a raw diet a year and a half ago, and tarter doesn't build up on her teeth anymore. She only has a tiny amount left from when she ate kibble. I don't think she'll need to be put under for a teeth clean again.
I also give her Merrick Bullystix. I don't know if they really help with her teeth but she likes chewing on them.
