I had the same problem when I first brought Otis home from the breeder, my Jack Russel mix Oreo, is nine years old, and he was only 12 weeks. Oreo, at first growled at Otis and really didn't want anything to do with him. She even snaped at him a couple of times I would tell her no and make sure he was okay by holding him and telling him it was okay because it would scare him so bad. I would not leave them alone for a long time by themselves because I was afraid she might hurt him and not mean too, or something.. Now he has been here with us for three and a half months and they are best friends.. Oreo still gets mad at him sometimes and just barks loud or growls just to tell him hey, that hurts or I don't want to play right now...Oreo loves him so much and they love to play together.. Otis really gives her a hard time though he is always bothering her playing, and if she feels like it she will play with him and then they go to sleep together after about and hour or two of hard playing. Hopefully, yours will get used to each other also, it will just take time, this is a big change for the both of them.. Just keep an eye on them and I would not leave them alone just yet until you know they will get along good.. But before you know it they will love each other so much.... here are my babies sleeping together...........
