I believe we have similar clinics over here in Wales. They are fine and the work is done by excellent vets. We took Gypsy Rose to a private vet and in Wales it is practically unheard of for them to keep a dog overnight after spaying unless there is a problem and also in most of the USA I've heard that they go home same day? I also wouldn't want to leave my babies overnight!
We took Gypsy Rose in the morning first thing (she had no food after a certain time night before and no drink after bedtime) and left her there (that's the hard bit!!), then you go home and cry a lot LOL, wait by the phone and if you're like me you phone them before the time they said...!! When we picked her up she was quite wakeful and glad to see us (I too was afraid that she'd hate us for it!!). Got her home and kept her quiet, she slept a LOT and shook a bit too and I did wonder what I'd done... only telling you this because so many feel like this. BUT the next afternoon she was waiting by the door to go for a walk!!
I bought her little baby's "onesies" to wear so that she wouldn't try and get her stitiches out. They came out 10 days later and I will never regret having her spayed.... I hope I remember this in a few months when I have to take her "sister" to be done LOL!!
Your baby will be fine... can't advise re the age as over here it's done two months after the 1st season. All the best and let us know how she gets on! Ana xx
