I went through the same thing with Gracie, and now with Holly. Some days I want to pull my hair out. Holly shuts up if she gets what she wants, out of the pen to run and play or get held. When I can't allow that and she has to be in her pen, I ignore the behavior. Eventually they will learn that when you leave, you will come back. And they must learn that crying gets them nowhere. When I do have to leave for a few hours, I turn on the radio to a talk station. That seems to keep her company and keep her quiet.
