I hope someone has some answers for you. My Lucy and my lab Fancy are exactly the same way. Maybe it's a learned behaviour? I know that as far as dog food goes that Lucy is eating less than she should be but she needs to lose a little weight. I had a holistic vet tell me that I should feed them based on what they should weigh, not what they actually weigh.
