Seems he's using the carpet by the door to go potty between outside potty breaks. Not sure how long he's been doing this but there are about 5 or 6 spots on the carpet. I'll have to get out the carpet cleaner and hope I can get the smell out. I had been giving Max more freedom in the house because I thought he was doing so well but I guess it's back to strict crate training.

This whole potty training stuff is getting really old. I hate to admit it but I'm really wishing I had got a different breed of dog.

Sometimes they do go a little backwards with the potty training if they get too much freedom too soon. And since you didn't catch it right away he thinks it's ok to "go" by the door now. I would definitely go back to the crate and watch him like a hawk while he's out of his crate. If you can catch him in the act, you'll be able to correct him right away and show him that this is not acceptible behavior. You'll see that it won't take long at all and he'll get back to only going outside. Don't give up, he'll get there. They're really smart dogs. Good luck
