I'm sure not trying to start a debate here...just wanted you to be aware that having dew claws removed as an adult is major compared to when they are newborns...another thing that I would be concerned about would be the additional time the pup has to be under the anesthesia to have dew claws removed.
My girl was always catching her dewclaws in carpets, blankets, and yes your right, having it done as babies is the best. But on discussing my situation with my vet, and my girl had to have surgery, it was decided that taking the dew claws off at the same time was better then my waiting for her to catch them one time too many.. some may never catch and not have a problem..it was a huge worry for me.
I was sitting at my phone and I was called the minute she went in for surgery and the minute she came out. The Vet had a vet that did the dental work, and she did the laser on her dewclaws.
