Regarding the dew claws, I have read that having dew claws removed later than the first few days of life, is so terribly painful and quite a long recovery. I remember someone saying that they didn't recommend it because it is so hard on the puppy. I think I may have read that on one of the threads here. Maybe you should do a little more research on dew claws.

I'm sure it's different for every dog, but my best friend's yorkie had a front dewclaw removed as an adult when he was neutered and healed quickly and didn't seem to be in pain from it. He was his normal crazy self after he woke up completely
