I agree that you know your own pets. I suggest you follow your feelings about this one.
My husband has one that he plays with Gizmo with from time to time. He has problems with his back and hips, so this is how they play on days when he is in pain. It's not all of the time...maybe once or twice a week, and we haven't seen anything to be concerned about.
Be careful not to shine it in anyone's eyes though.
