I tried a few different products and only one did the trick. It is a shampoo that I am not a fan of the smell,but it has been the only thing that works...and it works well! I use Cowboy Magic or Espree on her body but what I use on her face is Minksheen. I don't like the smell of Minksheen but it works wonders on her face. Maybe you could give it a try on your Schnauzer.
Oh,and I am not sure if diet makes a difference, but my dogs eat Canidae.
