Some people will never "get it" even if they did own a dog. I have a friend who has two miniature poodles and she doesn't like them at all. She bought them for her sons, who begged her for a dog, and she would never abuse them or not take them to the Vet when necessary, but she is totally not in love with them. She barely looks at them.
