Default A bit frustrated

I believe that I have found my breeder. I feel really good about her, but in the back of my mind I feel like I *should* be rescuing a dog from a shelter or rescue. When I go into a site like craigslist, for example, I get blasted for talking about going to a breeder, because how do I know she is not a BYB?

Here is where the problem lies. The breeder that I have found is about a 3 hour flight away from me...and she is not close enough for me to go and visit. (However, she thought at first that I was in her city and did invite me over to take a look). I have been told that a breeder is not reputable unless he/she shows her dogs. My breeder does not, she loves yorkies and is following her passion. (Is this a bad thing, not to be showing???) Another bit of advice, is that she should have an active waiting list...should not have puppies on demand. She just happens to be new, has only been breeding for a couple of years (I think she's on her 4th litter). She sells her dogs on kijiji, that is where I first found her. I have looked at her website, asked her tonnes of questions...and she seems like she's NOT a BYB...but how can I tell? I have also been told that the breeder should ask ME lots of questions, about myself and my situation...but I kind of nixed that idea because my first email to her was LOOOOOONG and I told her all about me, my family and really, my life story...after being turned away so many times by other breeders/rescues/shelters...I wanted to put my best foot forward. Now, I'll never know if she would have asked me these important questions or would have just told me the price.

It would be easy enough for me to go look for another breeder, and there are a few that are in fact closer, but none of them will even consider me because I have a 3 year old (she will be nearly 4 by the time we get our pup)..."my" breeder is the only one who will consider a family with kids, that I know of anyways. (Incidentally, to those who dont think yorkies belong in homes without kids......what happens if you adopt/sell to a childless couple who a year down the road has a baby?)

I'm confused.....I think my breeder is a good one, but how do I know I'm not selling her to myself because she's sorta kinda the only one?

I really dont want to put her website on here because 1) she might be a YT member and after all the talks/emails I've gone through with her, I'd hate for her to think I'm doubting her now (lol) and 2) ok, there is no number 2.

I'm wondering....are there any Yorkie experts out there, who could possibly PM me, so I could send you her website, so you could take a look for yourself? (And please, dont be a breeder...you could be her, lol, and dont know a breeder)

Thanks...sorry for the long post....even though it is months away, I'm stressing out about this...it is going to cost me $2000...it isnt the money, I'd spend 10 x that on her, but I dont want to pay $2000 to a BYB.

Ok, thats it
