I prefer the intranasal bordetella vaccine. When a dog contracts bordetella, it infects the respiratory mucosa. By giving an intranasal vaccine, it initiates an immune response in the mucosa (producing IgA antibodies - "surface" antibodies). It offers better protection from the disease. The downside, however, is the vaccine offers immunity for a shorter amount of time.
With the subcutaneous vaccine, it initiates an immune response in the blood (producing mostly IgG antibodies). I don't believe this offers as much protection to a disease that infects the mucosa of the respiratory tract. This vaccine is longer lasting though. But like I said, doesn't offer as much protection against a respiratory disease.
