I don't have any kids, but after trying to find homes for my little yorkie puppies I would have to say that you really need to be very careful with a yorkie around your 5 year old. I would be a bit leary with giving someone a puppy with a 5 year old around. Yorkies are great dogs, but until they are grown up and learn the ropes of being tiny little things that they are I would be really careful with your little girl and the new puppy together. Yorkies are great with kids if they are raised around them. Just like anyother type of dog.

They are wonderful and you will fall in love with the breed really fast. They will do anything to protect you and your family. I raised mine in a nursing home and she was really protective of the people that I took care of, plus she was so gentle with all of them even when they would pull her hair and stuff. They just have to get use to it. Good luck making the decision to add a wonderful yorkie to your life.
