Yes, they are really stretchy. They are also much better for the hair than the ones you buy in Walmart which tend to break the hair. I get the 1/4" which is the same size as the dental bands, I think. The larger bands don't work that well for me because you have to wrap them around too many times. The 1/4" goes around twice really well.
While you're there, check out the satin chin rests. They really help with doing topknots.
