8 weeks is not when they should leave the litter, 10 is minimal 12 is better, not for genetic concerns, because sometimes those won't show up for months, but for proper socialization with litter mates. Early removal can lead to many behavior issues down the road. Biting and separation anxiety are the two problems that almost always manifest in pups removed from the litter too soon.
