and breeders are extremely expensive and dishonest. even on the inside purchasing from a well know person is costly. However, I have been doing research and found a great group of people who rescuses Yorkies. They are United Yorkie Rescue. Great dedicated people who "care". They have foster Parents all over. I too live in Ny State, I found my baby in Maryland. I was that determined to have a fur baby of my own. so, I looked through their website, saw a furbaby, filled out an application on line, submitted. My sister & I drove to Maryland and back in one day. He is the cutest thing! such a sweetheart! here is their website. http://www.unitedyorkierescue.org/?page_id=2
Hope you find a baby of your own someday! Merry Christmas!
Not to be nasty or mean but I don't fully agree with your statement above.
Yes Yorkies are costly but there is alot of work that reputable breeders put into their babies and while I can't speak for all breeders I know that I myself don't even break even with my Yorkies. I am not in breeding to make a living, I do it for the love and betterment of the Yorkshire Terrier. I am very careful who gets one of my babies and once placed they still remain a part of my family.
As for the part about breeders being dishonest...
Yes there are those out there who don't care and will do what ever it takes to make the almighty dollar. Just as there are BYB, Pet stores and puppy mills that is just a known fact. That doesn't mean that all breeders fall under that catagory. I pride myself and I know of many other breeders that do the same on being very honest which is one of the reasons that I have return owners wanting another one of my babies or sending their friends to me.
I guess in short what I am trying to say is that not all breeders are dishonest and over priced. By the time you add up the time they spend matching up the right breeding, whelping and all the vet costs it can and does get overwhelming at times.
My puppies usually range in price from $1000 to $1600 and by the time they are ready to go to their new homes that is about what I have into them between my time and everything else. And when I stop and think about the fact that I paid $2500 just for my two males I think that is a very reasonable price range.
Merry Christmas to everyone and I do hope that you find your babie to bring home and love soon... Terri
