I can really relate to this as I am somewhat harsh with my kids also. I tell my kids the brutal truth. I expect them to do the same for me. My kids are very respectful of people and very respectful of animals. They do as they are asked and do well in school so they are rewarded for that. They too know that I will always have thier back so to say.
