I have taken some of my vets advice and am now taking Ambrose outside a couple of times a night so he can do his duty and have noticed a HUGE difference; however, Ambrose just cannot hold if for as long as my vet indicated. If he is in his crate or sleeping, he can hold it for only three hours and if he is up with us he'll pee on the carpet if we do not take him outside every hour. I am wonder, at what age do you think he'll be when he can hold it a little longer. I would love to be able to take him outside every coupld of hours instead of every hour...
I wouldn't think that at Ambrose's age he should be completely potty trained. Especially with such a small breed, their bladders are so tiny. Does he drink a lot? I've noticed a huge difference with my puppy in the last month even, he can now hold it for 2-4 hours while awake, and probably 60% of the time holds it through the night. It will just come with time. If you are looking for a way for him to give you a signal, I have bells that hang from the doorway, and Sully will ring them if he has to go.
