go see another Vet. One of mine had an irritation in the trachea and a very horrible cough from it. One touch of the trachea and she sounded like she was dying. My Vet prescribed tablets called Delta Albaplex T and I saw improvement in the first day. She is on them for 10 days, 1/2 tab every 12 hours.
