Hello Everyone...
This seems like such a great Forum!!!
I've just got my first Yorkie, and I have named him Logan. I got him from a nice breeder in Ohio. The trip from Ohio back here to Jersey was interesting, but he was VERY good on the plane.
I work for about 7 hours a day, 4 or 5 days a week. I live alone but am in a serious relationship and my significant other is over a lot and can keep him company sometimes while I am at work.
let me tell you how I have things set up, and let me know if you all think this is a good set-up.
I have a crate for him, in my kitchen. I use a baby gate to section off the kitchen so that is really "his area". The first 2 nights he cried horribly but now he is used to it. SO FAR I have not been closing the gate to the crate... he has gotten up in the night and used the wee wee pad and gone back to sleep without a peep. The wee wee pad also works good while I am at work, again here I don't close him up in the crate but leave the door open. He rarely has an accident while he is in "his area" and if he does its usually half/on half/off the wee wee pad.
This morning I let him out of "his area" to run around and play with me and I went to the bathroom, and, well, so did he while I wasn't looking. I couldn't get mad because I should not have left him unattended. (When ever I am home he is not confined to the Kitchen we play all over the apartment...)
I welcome any advice you all have for me, I've tried training some basic commands and he doesn't really want any part of learning any commands. He also gets horrible eye-boogers in the hair around his eyes and he FLIPS OUT when I take the comb to try and get them out. He wiggles so much and will do anything to get free.
Ok I am rambling, I have *SO MANY* questions I want to make his life happy and worry free, but I want him to be trained as well.
