I have that VPI pet insurance and I got the superior plan but I am going to cancel because I just submitted all of Teddi's bills from the last 3 weeks and they denied everything because they don't cover liver shunts but I don't understand why they didn't cover some of it because, yes in the end she does have a liver shunt, but that was not why I took her to the vet in the first place...we didn't know what was wrong with her. I think they should at least cover the emergency vet and the days in the hospital. I could see them not covering the shunt scan or the shunt operation but the beginning bills should be paid. I would suggest just putting money in a doggie account...at least then you will have the money sitting there. Even if you only put in the same amount that you would pay for insurance at least the money will be there when you need it.
