I free feed and watch the gals weight. I don't add puppy kibble to their diet until the puppies bones have calcified so as not to encourage heavy bone. About 10 days before she's due I have the xray done and put them on puppy food. Do not increase calcuim intake until whelping as this increases the risk of eclampsia. Fresh air, water,and exercise are important for health as well.
