What happened is past. But, even though we treat these lil fur kids as our children, we fail to realize that they are dogs....the most docile of pets will do the unsuspected. The lab may have playfully nipped the puppy, but that was enough to cause this horrible accident. Never, never leave them unwatched, or unattended....you wouldn't do this with your children, why would you do it with a 2 pound puppy....
I have 2 pet yorkies 7 & 8 pounds that for the most part are very docile.....until they are both vying for tha wonderful chewy....I've been awaken in the middle of the night by an all out bitch fight going on in the middle of my bed, that husband and I have had to jump in the middle of....if we didn't they could have killed and I mean killed each other.....blood has been drawn.
So, bottom line we must be vigilant and aware that they are dogs first, and all the primal instincts will be awakened given the right set of circumstances.
