Hmmmm, well, I don't want to be too repetitive. But, I wonder if your breeder prepared you enough in bringing the puppy home (w/ a lab there)? Not that it's a breeder's total responsibility, but a good breeder wants to know about other pets, kids, etc. in your home.

When I brought home Marcel at 1 pound 4 oz. (16 weeks old), my breeder advised TONS of caution w/ my Wylie - and he is just 7.5 lbs.; I think she would have freaked had I had a large dog.

It is heartbreaking, but, maybe it's just not the right time for you to have a little dog. Maybe it's just not right for your lab, and you do have to respect his boundaries (within reason, that is). I just wish you the best and hope it all turns out well.
