Because, like people, not all dogs are alike. I am sure your lab is a wonderful
housepet and did not mean any harm but your other doggie lost his life
even though it was an accident. Why would you even consider bringing
in another toy dog. Aren't you afraid of it happening all over again.?
I would be. Why put another puppy's life in danger. Get a larger breed
so the two can be on even ground and enjoy life together.
I can't imagine living in a home where two breeds live independent lives.
Never being together. I would think that would be very stressful for
everyone.
Sometimes what we want is not what we should have at the moment.
I am sorry this happened to you but please give yourself time to reconsider.
Good luck,
Very nicely put!

To the OP, no one is shunning you or blaming you. However the situation is what it is...regardless to if your lab meant it or not, it's actions were the result of the death of poor Coco. Even if it was an accident, you have to look at the severity of the result. If it happened once, it could happen again. No one is saying you aren't worthy of a Yorkie or a dummy or a bad person, but your larger dog clearly presents a danger for smaller breeds. You may want one more than anything, but if it is not safe it's not safe, nothing you can do about it.
Please don't be down or blaming yourself. That is a horrible thing to have happened and I am very sorry you had to witness it and deal with that heartache.
