Before they bark they usually do some sort of low growl and that is when I very quickly and firmly thell them no. I also know that they are curious about what ever sound they heard so will let them out to explore it. We go on walks alot and they play alot outside of our property (about 1.5 acers), we also have lots of people visiting and visit lots of people. I think because of this they are not big barkers they are use to hearing sounds and seeing people. Hope this helps. (BTW I know I can't spell )
