I don't know how old your baby is but I think that carrier is super cute. One of my carriers is an open syle messenger (with safety clip of course) and I have never had any problem with Sugar trying to jump out- he just wouldn't do it. Of course if he did for some reason try, he's clipped in and my hand is right there to catch him. I guess an open style wouldn't work with a puppy but I have had no problem with mine.
