Default Housetraining

Hi. Ambrose and I went to the vet on Friday and I asked him a few questions about housetraining. Now, according to my vet, Ambrose should be completely potty trained and able to hold himself for hours at a time. Ambrose is 12 weeks old. I have taken some of my vets advice and am now taking Ambrose outside a couple of times a night so he can do his duty and have noticed a HUGE difference; however, Ambrose just cannot hold if for as long as my vet indicated. If he is in his crate or sleeping, he can hold it for only three hours and if he is up with us he'll pee on the carpet if we do not take him outside every hour. I am wonder, at what age do you think he'll be when he can hold it a little longer. I would love to be able to take him outside every coupld of hours instead of every hour...
